Benelux CEO Annick Boyen named as one of most influential women in Brussels

Monday 17 October, 2016

Annick Boyen, CEO of Weber Shandwick Benelux, has been named as one of the most influential women in Brussels by Politico, the leading online and print publication.

In Politico’s first “Women who shape Brussels” ranking, Annick was included as one of 13 “Ladies who Lobby”: female CEOs of leading lobbying firms, who together take the No.1 spot in the list.

Annick said: “I’m thrilled to be included. The private sector stands out in Brussels for beating the gender gap: eight of the top ten lobbying firms are led by women, while gender balance isn’t always reflected at the top of the European institutions. It’s testimony to our meritocratic culture at Weber Shandwick.”

Politico has introduced the ranking to celebrate the influencers who are shifting the gender imbalance in Brussels. According to the magazine: “The leaders of the largest political groups in the European Parliament, the heads of their umbrella parties and the three EU presidents — of the Commission, Council and Parliament — are all men… But the picture is quite different on the private sector side of the Brussels power equation”.
